Keeping your cool

Ask any transport fleet involved with delivering temperature-sensitive goods what their number one concern is, and it’s likely to be ensuring the integrity of the cold chain. After all, the risk of a spoiled load can potentially cost hundreds of thousands of pounds when you are transporting valuable goods such as seafood or pharmaceuticals.

For our client Carrier Transicold, we set ourselves the challenge of finding its most remote UK customer. We wanted to find a fleet whose decision to put its faith in Carrier products would prove to be the ultimate vote of confidence in Carrier’s technology.

It didn’t take long to track down Barratlantic – operating from the tiny island of Barra in the Outer Hebrides.  Every time this customer wants to deliver a load, it has to ensure a five hour ferry journey just to reach the mainland.

Armed with this information, we invited Commercial Motor to visit the customer. Two flights later and Barratlantic’s Managing Director, Donald MacLean, was explaining why his company has purchased Carrier fridges for the last 20 years.

You can read the full story in Commercial Motor’s 14 July 2011 issue – it made the front cover, plus a further six pages.
